Fear takes on many forms when you are a child. Sometimes the worst fears are those which no one suspects. If you are lucky you can work through them and go on to a happy and healthy life.

Inspiring A Reconnection With Nature At The Robert Bateman Centre
“Most of us go through this wonderful, complex world barely even tuned in, like listening to the radio when it is not on the station. We (me included) miss most sights and sounds. We do not really pay attention. Our ancient ancestors were far better at this. In recent years we have become even less mindful of our sense of place” – Robert Bateman
Beyond the Lens, into the Realm of Imagination and Creativity
Sixteen million tourists visit Venice every year and probably every one of them is carrying a camera. Coming up with a fresh photographic approach is thus a considerable challenge. I had two influences percolating in the back of my mind when I visited Venice for the second time in 2010.
The Surreal Housewife: How I remember things (or not)
The elephant in the memory room, so to speak, is age. How does one compensate for the decline in memory as one ages? Buy more Post-its? Put chalkboards in every room? (The bedroom chalkboard could get interesting.) Set alarms for our impending alarms? Surely, there’s got to be another way.
Game: Amusement, Distraction, Diversion or Sport

That’s why I think it’s important to understand “shaping” versus “prompting” in dog training. Both have their merits and their pitfalls and we should be well prepared no matter how we decide to train!
Reminiscences of a Chemo Grad
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, once I got over the initial shock and faced the long treatment process—which spun out ahead of me like a thread unraveling from a dropped spool— I think the scariest part was the thought that I might have to have chemotherapy.
Professor Theodore Heinrich: A Monumental Man
Walking across a windswept parking on a bone-chilling, dark February night I had time to reflect on a movie and a former professor of mine who had been involved in recovering art stolen by the Nazis.
Namibia: Into the Lightness
Sossusvlei, in the heart of Namibia’s Namib Naukluft Park, has some of the most dramatic landscapes on earth and a must visit for anyone who steps foot in the country. After exploring its sand dunes and dried lakebeds I climbed into a Namib Sky Balloon Safaris’ basket with a Nikon camera-in-hand for a totally different perspective.
