I’ve found it painful to read the news these past few years. Disasters, scandals, the hatred seeping from the headlines was more than I thought I could bear.
In June of 2000, I woke to find myself partially paralyzed on the left side of my body. It was as if someone had drawn a line down the center of my body and one side worked while the other didn’t. That started a round of hospital and doctors’ visits and tests.
I am interested in examining man’s relationship between the ephemeral & the eternal as well as the cyclical patterns of growth and decline that binds all material things. Careful observation reveals the beauty within each moment of a world in continuous change.
“Welcome to Ecuador,” I announced to 11 people as they walked through the door of the customs area in the Quito airport. For several years, I have been asked if I would ever lead a trip abroad. This idea has held limited appeal; I like the freedom to move.
We have always called the dog our “faithful” companion. But what is it that we think they have faith in? Not surprisingly, our dogs should have faith in us, their owners. But we don’t get that trust and faith for free. We should live up to it and earn it.
This stuff is gorgeous to the ear, or at least to mine. Some may think it sentimental and they might be right.
I will miss her dearly, this little puppy that came into our lives so many years ago. To me she will always be that little puppy full of curiosity and joy! The sadness engulfs us now as we mourn her death, but we are remembering all of those wonderful things about her and being thankful that she came into our lives.
A five hour ferry ride from Souris, Prince Edward Island, the Magdalens are an accessible “exotic” paradise that appears on few English speakers’ radar…but should!
My work is almost autobiographical, I try to reproduce an atmosphere, a mood, impressions, feelings, past experiences under different horizons … or perchance to dream … These images come also from my childhood or recent experience that my eye has filtered through my subconscious.
