I have handmade 101 clay pots with the faces of different poets from around the world on them. I am leaving the pots, along with poems by those poets around the city for people to discover, read, and take home with them.
One morning I awoke, and noticed the absence of the rocking movement of the vessel to which I’d grown accustomed. Shouts and cries assailed my ears and strange smells penetrated even through the miasma of our hold. The hatch opened and we blinked at the bright light, then staggered out of the vessel. With its hot sun and its palm trees, Jamaica was in some ways much like home.

Leaving, I felt the awesome power of joy and love that defined his life – with none of the transitory, smoky mirrors of “stardom.” Suddenly, the gift he was giving us hit home: all things must pass; but, we’re still here. If there’s any good we can do, let it be now. Keep the music going!
It was my mother who passed on her love of music to me. She showed me that the magic of great music came from the heart. I learned that a terrific song has everything in balance: the tune, the words, and most importantly, a singer – capable of interpreting it for others.
I thrust my ticket at the volunteer and headed for the facilities, only to find that there was one single washroom at which a small line had already formed. It was big, lovely, and fully accessible—the kind with a button to open the door and another one to lock it. But it was the only one.

Zines remained popular through 2011 when they hit a mainstream high. In 2019, zines remain popular, but only to those who know they exist. The younger generations who grew up with Facebook and Instagram don’t know what they’re missing.
