Restored to her former glory, it was time to set sail.
I don’t have kids, and probably never will, but I still find myself surrounded by little girls. Many of my friends have them, and my sister has one who will be five later this year. They are cute.
What isn’t cute is when the collective world encourages “the cuteness” of their fear of something.
“You made it. Who’s the little lady with ya there?” asked someone who I swear looked like Joseph Campbell. I was seriously beginning to think I must be suffering from some kind of heat stroke or something. Across from Joseph was Allen Ginsberg, and there was Jack Kerouac, my teenage hero….
Here are several, both color and black and white, of a morning in my life not too long ago. After all the whining and losing are done, and the relentless, useless calculations of loss finished with, all that is left is the doing what there is to do. I said that.
