Comin’ back is the way of things after a time. Things slip away, time passes. We gather ourselves again and again, set out to reclaim what seems to have been lost only to discover that whatever it was it is not that now.
We are not as fast as we used to be, sez Abie the philosopher as he comes off the basketball court, head down, gasping for breath. We were never as fast as we used to be, sez Louie the realist, head down gasping for breath. Right on, sez I, ‘cept for Beards and Sal, you know, Rodgers and Shorter, all them truly fast guys. Keep on comin’ back is what I say.
