Mankind has altered and changed much of the view of our planet. Pollution, clear cutting and industrialization are evident in some of the paintings and the titles also reflect my own opinions on our “process of change.”
Sway
Maya Angelou said something like ” If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.” Powerful stuff. So I changed they way I thought about myself. I let myself take risks, go down paths I was unsure of, tried new things, stopped doing things that were not helpful ( comparison is the death of joy) and painted whatever I wanted to paint.
California Dreaming
As a landscape painter, I find the varied terrain in the western US quite inspirational. The beauty of California particularly touches my heart and soul – from the verdant hills of the wine country to the majestic coastline.
A Talented Self-Taught Artist Living in Palatinate
I am constantly learning by doing and reading. What a journey it’s been! There is always something new to explore. Curiosity is my motivation.
The Path
“Everyone has the ability to create art. Art is personal expression, it can take you on a journey or give you joy. Art is your voice, it is music and poetry, all mixed in the paint and laid upon the canvas.”
A Passionate West Coast Landscape Artist
My desire is to create paintings that have many focal points. Colours, shapes and patterns that are a feast for the eyes and keep one captivated for long periods of time discovering and re-discovering subtle nuances in the rhythm of the piece.
Vibrant Works of Art Bring Reflection and Renewal
Nature’s gift experienced by a small humble human heart . . . what I see, more importantly, what I experience while in nature deeply impacts me and I hope to convey that through my paintings. Currently, I am working on a piece inspired by last year’s visit to the Ashnola River in the interior of BC
What is Open-Impressionism?
Fewer strokes is better in Open-Impressionism. If a tree can be painted in five strokes instead of thirty, a feeling of freshness and spontaneity is communicated in the abstraction of a tree to its basic form and movement.
A Deeper Meaning of Permanance in Art
When a similarity between my work and computer animation or claymation is mentioned, I take it as a compliment because the 3D into 2D illusion of light and shadow is what sophisticated computer programs excel at, and claymation uses real forms under actual light.
Communicating Happiness Through Art
I am fascinated by the endless combinations and effects achieved by emphasizing and focusing on certain elements and principles of art and design. My art has become a metaphor of my own life’s journey exhilarating, unpredictable, and joyful -and it is my desire to share this experience with my viewer.
