At a time when I needed my family and friends the most, they were there. A story of love, and how a wooden bowl became a symbol of everything beautiful at a time when it felt like life was anything but.
Gone Is Just a Word
It was a typical day at home, doing typical things – making meals, doing a little gardening and getting around to some long-overdue projects. These are times when I love to just let my mind wander…but on this day, all I could think about was my Mother.
Siblings: Part 2
Being 21, it’s difficult nowadays to imagine myself treating my older siblings in the manner I see my younger brothers and sister treat me. There was a time when I looked upon my older brother and sister and saw them in a glowing light, similar to what a child sees in an adult.
Mom’s Exercise Routine Goes Bad
I think I was in shock that I couldn’t stop this kid on his bike, and then I remember flying through the air. That is when I screamed. Then there was this peaceful moment when I could hear nothing, no birds, no screaming, no kids playing somewhere near the accident there was just this beautiful, peaceful silence.
The Surreal Housewife: The Last Word
Why leave it to your grieving relatives, who will be furiously looking for your will, to make important decisions? Regardless of how comfortable you are thinking about your own demise, isn’t it your responsibility? And besides, wouldn’t it be nice to have the last word, once and for all?
I Have a Rose Garden
“…her words have disappeared, (but) her meaning is still with me…”
The Surreal Housewife: Freshmen on my Mind
Where did the time go? I don’t just mean this summer; I mean the last 16 summers. Seems like just yesterday I was packing bikes and kids into the truck and heading to the elementary school to teach them how to ride a bike, which was impossible on the hill we lived on.
An Unbroken Cycle of Life and Death
When does the spirit inhabit the body? Millions of people strongly believe that it is at the time of conception. Metaphysicians have written that a soul chooses the exact time of birth to enter the body, its vehicle of expression, hence, the importance of the astrological configuration.
The New Kid In Town
It’s not every day that a child is born who changes the way you are living to such a degree and in such a profound way that you have no idea what day it is or what time it is, and you don’t really care.
The Mourning Period
I have a love for abandoned houses and other slightly melancholy places, and I frequently use them as locations in many of my photos. By using discarded decorative flowers that once sat on graves in a local cemetery, I made small bouquets that I then arranged in various areas around the house.
