She was led, while a child, to see the retreating forces of Charles Edward (i.e. Bonnie Prince Charlie) pass from Falkirk to Culloden. Her uncle, the Laird of Feddal and Shawn, in whose house she was brought up followed the fortunes of the Prince to battle, was never more heard of, alive or dead.
A Journey to Spirit #5: The Clothesline Romance
Life was good. In his hay day, Boo ran The Boat House that sat next door to the Shady Rest on the beachfront in Qualicum. I can still smell the French fries and vinegar, their scent tantalizing my grumbling stomach after a full day of swimming and playing in the sun.
A Journey to Spirit #4: Memories
We weren’t perfect, but we certainly had fun. Summers were spent lounging on the porch of the old log house, dressing up and playing in the shed or enjoying a day at the beach. We played cards and Yahtzee, drank iced tea and listened through the heat as the sound of the bees zipped in and around us and then slipped away.
Rob Roy Meets James Burden
Here a desperate combat ensued with both men slightly wounded but neither gaining the advantage until Burden’s sword snapped off at the hilt. The Laird of Feddal “expecting to be instantly stabbed to the heart, sprang back and bared his chest to his foe.”

This, then, becomes a conflict. A clash of needs, desires, even wills. It also becomes the delineation of responsibilities.
Valerie
Her face is chiseled; her piercing blue eyes rein you in, gather you up like flowers in a field and hold you in their warmth.

What would you do for someone you love? Would you jump off a bridge? Would you kill someone? Would you die for someone? Hard to answer.
My Father’s Legacy

Things like when were they born, where they were educated, employed, and who they married highlight the details of their life. But, that only tells part of the story and misses the really important parts.
