North America is the ATV rider’s paradise. With miles and miles of trails all over the territory and an incredible variety of landscapes, picking up the best trails of the continent is almost impossible. But a few places are worth mentioning and should attract attention more than others.
Here’s a ‘top 5 trails’ every ATV rider must try at least once in their life.
The Paiute ATV Trail (Utah, USA)
With more than 2000 miles of primary and designated side trail, Utah’s world-renowned Paiute Trail is a definite must-do for any quad-riding enthusiast. Breathtaking rock formations, deep, wild forests, pristine lakes and an incredibly diverse wildlife: rumor has it that the Paiute might just be the best ATV trail in the US.
Taylor Park (Colorado, USA)
Don’t expect to explore Colorado’s Taylor Park in just a few days: it will take you weeks, and probably more than one visit to ride through the whole area. Very popular, the Park is filled with little cabins for rent, and also has a marina where you can rent boats. Ideal to take some time off your vehicle and catch few trouts in the Taylor Reservoir. You can also explore one of the many still existing structures along the trails, remains of the region’s rich mining past.
Coal Creek Trail System (Tennessee, USA)
It’s one of the finest trail systems in the Southeast. Over 100 miles of trails that will satisfy the needs of any type of riders: mud pits, hill climbs, fast dirt roads… No rider will regret his visit to the Coal Creek. Plus you can camp for free!
« Ride The Rock » Tour (Newfoundland, Canada)
Commonly called « The Rock », Newfoundland, Canada, is known internationally for its majestic landscapes. Organized by the Newfoundland Outdoor Adventures, the « Ride the Rock » trail will take you from coast to coast, across the whole island of Newfoundland. During the few days you will need to do the trip, you’ll be riding along the abandoned Newfoundland railway and admiring landscapes you won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
Charlevoix Region, (Quebec, Canada)
Did you know that the Province of Quebec offers the largest network or quad trails in North America? More than 11 000 miles to ride on! It fact, there are so many quad riding trails in La Belle Province that you’ll have a hard time choosing where exactly you want to ride!
A great place to start with is the Charlevoix region. With its misty mountains and its majestic view over the St-Lawrence River, Charlevoix is a very popular touristic destination. Exploring it off-road on your ATV is just incomparable. Start off from the small town of Bay St-Paul, and just ride around on the one of the many scenic trails you’ll find in the area.
On those five trails, your ride will be thrilling, guaranteed. But there are so many more to discover! Quad riding is a great way to travel and discover a region. While traveling, you’ll easily find quads for rent – but, on the long term, it would be cheaper to get your own vehicle! The quad riding peak season is upon us: look around; there are many ATVs for sale so check out your nearest dealer, and enjoy a summer of quad riding fun!

Thanks for this list! It’s from way back 2012 and I wonder if these trails are still in tact and good. I don’t seem to find them around the web. I only found Ride the Rock and Coal Creek. I wish to go on these trails if given the chance.
