My girlfriend and I decided to have dessert for dinner one night and we unanimously decided it would be The Chocolate Bar. What a treat it was!
The choices were huge – from cakes to pies to ice cream, mousse and brownies. If it can be made into chocolate it is at this store. Cheesecakes, fudge, truffles, flan, cookies, chocolate pizza, candy bars, chocolate covered fruit, and chocolate cigars. There’s frozen hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles, as well as a full variety of espresso drinks and gourmet coffee. There’s sugar-free chocolates, gourmet dessert spoons, popcorn, professional gift sets, party mixers, greeting bars and novelties in chocolate.
After perusing, we decided on Uncle Darryl’s Chocolate cake, which is a sumptuous cake that pays tribute to simple and sophisticated tastes. It starts with four layers of moist dark chocolate cake with each layer generously doused with chocolate filling that has bits of buttery toffee and dark, bittersweet chocolate chunks mixed in. The cake is finally topped off with a dense chocolate ganache, dripping down the sides of the cake. Muaw! One slice is enough for two or more people.
So you might want to know a little history about The Chocolate Bar: we were told it started with a creative man with a childhood passion for chocolate and a career with an international chocolate company, Gilbert Johnson. He dreamed of a shop serving all ages with smiles and sweet treats, where chocolate could become a complete entertainment experience. To make his dream reality, Gilbert enlisted Eric Shamban and Tino Ramirez as founding fathers and on October 10, 2000, The Chocolate Bar was born. Today, The Chocolate Bar has two locations in Houston thanks to loyal customers and exceptional service from their enthusiastic and friendly employees.
Once you enter The Chocolate Bar you’ll immediately enjoy an unforgettable awakening of all your senses. The smell and the scent of chocolate wafts through the shop, drawing you further inside. And it is visually exciting; the shop tempts your taste buds with colors, displays and a myriad of chocolate shapes. You can touch everything in the shop and explore and discover what it has to offer. Likewise you can taste the unique recipes -they have such as 24 homemade ice creams at a time, all available to sample. You can hear the blending of milkshakes to the grinding of espresso. We enjoyed the upbeat sounds, music, laughter and conversation among customers. As if could not get any better, they even offer an online store where you can always order their chocolate delights or put in special requests.
