Faster than any other land animal, the cheetah is a large feline inhabiting most of Africa and parts of the Middle East.
How fast is it? In short bursts, the cheetah can run as fast as 112 to 120 km/h (70 to 75 mph).
From a standing start, it has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 72.4 km/h (45 mph) in 2 seconds and some suggest to over 100 km/h (62 mph) in three seconds. Most race cars do not achieve these rates of acceleration!

Yup Gil, that photo brings back so many, many memories, When in Africa, I was just walking along an open space, when one of these wonderful animals opted to run behind, beside and ahead of me and I was just struck dumfounded,at its beauty, its grace and its friendliness. Rapid is not the word, it is beyond rapid. It is also gorgeous, and very graceful I fell in love with it. When quite a way in front of me it stopped and turned and looked at me. I had also stopped to be able to admire it. It studied me for a few seconds, then in one turn about and one bound it disappeared into the bush leaving me with a wonderful feeling of peace.
