I have no choice but to leave what is done behind and make the best of what is here for me to do. And like I used to do in the middle of long runs, suddenly, inexplicably to me, sometimes I cry.
Tarmac Meditations #186: Back To Business, aka Chopping Wood
Getting off the Facebook chatter highway is related to many things, not the least of which was my growing sense of wasting my time in useless political debate for my own personal satisfaction. The issues we face as a nation are too big for a Trump-like aggrandizement of self.
Tarmac Meditations #185: It Wasn’t There Again Today
Another way of saying this is that i made an image of something that I saw that wasn’t actually there at the precise moment that I was inclined to make the image.
Tarmac Meditations #184: Cold Moon Rising
Here I was, home in one piece, “fired up and ready to go,” as my former President used to say. I took a picture of the moon and headed inside.
Tarmac Meditations #183: The Miracle of Second Chances
Running before daylight has always been my chosen cathedral. Time to eat right, work hard, run and pray. Oh yeah, also a good time to be grateful for the miracle of second chances .
Tarmac Meditations #182: Something Is Happening Here
Enough outa me today. I have run, written, eaten and I am about to shower – a very good day. Tarmac Meditations #181: Hard Times a-Comin’

Tarmac Meditations #180: Staying In The Moment
With any luck at all, one day soon I hope to be able to shoot sports in the back country, to find the high places where the runners go.
Tarmac Meditations #179: Wheels a-Rollin’
I had forgotten to put on my glasses – the stars appeared to be surrounded each individually by pinwheels like wheels “a rollin’ way in the middle of the air.” I stopped, looked up in surprising wonder and bid goodbye to the migraine and welcome to what might be a better day.
Tarmac Meditations #178: Safe at Home from Time to Time
In my memory, every year clouds covered the noonday sun, as I felt the chill of fall as we packed up and headed home to the city.
