I wept, grief stricken about them one evening a few weeks ago. I had not cried about my deceased family members for years. My sister, one year older than I; my brother one year younger; my father and his brother and their mother; an older sister that I never knew.
The Amazing – 9/11 BOATLIFT
I had never heard this incredible part of the 9/11 story. Narrated by Tom Hanks, it illustrates how true it is that humans are at their best when things are at their worst.
Dogs and Dogma In The 21st Century – A Rant
Having arrived in 2012, an era projected in science fiction movies decades ago, I find myself both amazed and shocked by turns at what has actually come to pass. In an era where managing my diabetes no longer means an early death and the Internet puts with worlds knowledge at my fingertips, people still believe that aggressive behaviour in dogs is breed specific and that electronic shock collars are a good idea to manage a dog’s behaviour.
Tarmac Meditations #83: Driftin’
The court stenographer reminds me of Sandy-what’s-her-name, quiet and proud, interior, aloof. I always wanted Sandy-what’s-her-name. She stood tall and straight. An athlete, a dancer.

Tarmac Meditations #82: It Ain’t Heaven… It’s Illinois
I was riding in an ATV on my way to Memorial Stadium in Champaign-Urbana to get to the finish line of a 10K race event. In order to get there before the first finishers we scooted down a back road. I shot this from the back of the ATV, high shutter speed and ISO and […]
The Cinema – My First Visit
I remember very well the day my Mother told me she would take me to the cinema. What a surprise! And a joyous and exciting occasion! I was beside myself with happy anticipation and eagerness to get there.
All Alone in the Night – Our Living Planet
Watch this amazing video called ‘All Alone in the Night’ which is time-lapse footage of the Earth, as seen from the International Space Station. I could wax poetic about this … but as they say, a picture (or in this case a video) is worth a thousand words.
