“I am always fascinated by sitting down in a fairly comfortable manner, hands on my steering wheel, driving through the city and watching stuff in glorious colour that passes through my peripheral vision every day”.
Cuba on Film
I arrived in Cuba in February of 2010. In addition to fulfilling the assignment I created Cuba on Film, a book comprised of 95 full page photographs. Some of the images were captured on film.
Open Spaces and Predators of the Mystical Kalahari
I adore leopards. Although you have to work really hard to find one, this wildlife park probably houses the most beautiful specimens. They are still very skittish, which makes them even more spectacular and impressive.
True Grit.
Using a technique I developed through Photoshop I like to take photos of run down, rusty, dirty objects, and create an even more gritty look.
Pierre Carreau’s AquaViva Series
This sculptural effect of dynamism in static suspension is at once conscious and haphazard, a function of the rapid genesis of these images and the evident fact that the artist cannot possibly see the final work at the very moment of its birth.
How I Got Into Photography
I appreciate many forms of photography but have a passion for wildlife, birds in flight and birds of prey in particular. There is something about the predatory process of search, locate, attack and consume that fascinates me today as it did 40 years ago as a kid.
Napa of the North: Canada’s Okanagan Valley
Barrel tasting great wine, hanging out with friends in a lavender field, and picnicking al fresco in a vineyard surrounded by beautiful mountains. What a perfect day in Napa. Except for one thing. I’m not in Napa, California. I’m in Canada’s Okanagan Valley.
The Fun and Freedom of Abstract Photography
I moved in close to graffiti on a stone wall. The curving lines and the black and white contrast reminded me of Zen calligraphy. There’s something about curving lines that is appealing to me. They remind me of the flow of life.
Embracing True Beauty Through Her Lens
Atalia Katz states, “I view photography as another dimension, alongside writing, that provides me with the primary tools for expressing my inner self, the excitement of discovery and the exhilaration of creation every day.”
Photography Adventure Workshops in Ajijic, Mexico
I had plenty of inspirations the first few years, but then, how many times can you photograph Huichol Indians and colorful doors? After awhile it becomes necessary to narrow your field of photography and come up with photos that are not ordinary nor clichéd images.
