In a recent article in English newspaper, The Guardian, journalist Maev Kennedy wrote that physicist, Stephen Hawkins, has made his PhD thesis, Properties of Expanding Universes, available to the public to allow people to think, learn and share their research.
Hawkins has prophesized that humans have only 100 years to live on the planet given existing problems such as overpopulation and climate change. He has suggested we look to inhabit a different planet.
These notices resulted in me looking for art images combining the beauty of the planet with scientific advances. I recalled a project by Canadian artist, Eisert Hall, from British Columbia, Fields, Trees and Quantum that satisfied my quest. I contacted the artist who has provided authority to use the following words and three images from her project. She is not providing a prognosis of the future but is prepared to share with you her “sense of love and hope for the longevity of trees and all life.” As set out on her website, Eisert Hall.
“Quantum physics describes the existence of a subatomic world behind that which we perceive with our senses. I like to identify with the flow of this world and to imaging its physical manifestations on canvas.”
