This little island in the Balearic might be renowned for its nightlife, but by day Ibiza offers a wealth of activities to satisfy even the most extreme of outdoor enthusiasts. With sunshine most of the year, the weather won’t get in the way of your plans. Best of all, Ibiza’s small size of just 221 square miles means that no matter where you want to explore, it’s never more than a stone’s throw away.
If Ibiza sounds like the place to spend your next outdoor holiday, here are five activities that you won’t want to miss out on:
1 – Kayaking
Like most islands, Ibiza is overflowing with watersports opportunities and facilities. If you want to explore the beautiful coastline, why not try kayaking? Kayak rentals are available at many major beaches, including Las Salinas and Playa d’en Bossa.
If you’re looking for something a little more peaceful, skip the big beaches and start your kayak adventure in the bay of Cala Vadella on the west coast. Take to the waters by yourself and explore at your own pace, or if you’re still new to kayaking, join a guided excursion.
2 – Hiking
With its rugged countryside and golden coast, Ibiza is a place of outstanding natural beauty. One of the best ways to enjoy the landscape is by foot, and for hikers, there is no shortage of incredible trails.
If you fancy a challenge, you could hike to Sa Talaia, the highest point on Ibiza, for some breath-taking views. Alternatively, to see as many of the island’s much-loved beaches as possible, try making your way around the southern coast, starting at Playa d’en Bossa.
3 – Cycling
Ibiza is a cyclist’s paradise. The network of tracks that criss-crosses over the north of the island will take you to some lesser-known areas – expect secluded coves, and sleepy, whitewashed beaches.
There are 21 official mountain biking routes on Ibiza, each categorised according to difficulty. So, whether you’re a serious bike rider looking to test yourself, or you just want to spend a leisurely day enjoying the scenery on two wheels, there is definitely something for you.
4 – Horse riding
In the north, you’ll also find the Valley of Horses. This is the place to go if you want to traverse the island on horseback. The treks on offer range from riding on the beach to riding in the mountains.
The Valley of Horses offers well-trained horses to suit every level of rider, and experienced guides will show you around. Whether you’re wading across rivers or cantering along sandy tracks, you’re guaranteed a memorable day out.
5 – Diving
Exploring Ibiza above ground is fun, but it’s also a fantastic place for an underwater adventure. With dive sites that include caves, shipwrecks, and even the remains of a collapsed fish farm, there is plenty to see.
Ibiza is home to a number of PADI certified dive centres where you can learn the basics before taking to the sea. Whether you’re looking for a day trip or a longer course, a private lesson or a group dive, you’ll find a centre to provide you with what you need.
