The United Arab Emirates city of Dubai is world-famous as a playground for the rich but you don’t need an immense bank balance to enjoy all that this city has to offer.
Many of the 10 million tourists who visit Dubai each year have only one intention and that’s to spend each day on the stunning beaches. It’s only natural that you enjoy these fabulous stretches of pristine sand as well other sightseeing attractions such as the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower and home to one of the best restaurants in Dubai. But this city is home to some fantastic activities and attractions if you know where to look.
A tour through the city
A walking tour through Dubai’s Shindagha waterfront area is one of the best ways to become immersed in the heart of Old Dubai. Learn some of Dubai’s history by starting your walk at the Dubai Museum before following the route along Dubai Creek.
Along this route you can take in the bustling and atmospheric Bur Dubai Souq (market) as well as exploring the Heritage and Diving Village. The waterfront architecture is a sightseeing attraction in its own right and ranges from classy private residences to the multi-domed Grand Mosque.
Explore Dubai’s parks
If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city then spend some time in one of Dubai’s parks. The beautiful Safa Park is ideal for the entire family and the perfect place for picnics and boating on the serene lakes.
Head to Creek Park and enjoy a show at the Dubai Dolphinarium or take in some amazing city views on a cable car trip. You can also explore this park via a rented bicycle before taking a water taxi to continue your sightseeing along the Dubai Creek.
Visit the Palm Islands
It’s one of Dubai’s must see attractions and the two man-made, palm-tree shaped islands make for an ideal day out. Taking a monorail trip is one of the best ways to arrive and explore but be prepared for the crowds visiting the immense Atlantis Hotel.
If you’re looking to escape the crowds on a secluded beach then head to quiet beaches such as Al Ghanhoot or the absolutely idyllic Mamzar Beach Park. Dubai’s coastline stretches for 700km and it’s very easy to find an isolated beach to relax on.
Eating and drinking
Dubai is famous for its amazing nightlife and boasts some of the best restaurants, bars and nightclubs in the world.
Remo’s rooftop restaurant has been called one of Dubai’s best kept secrets and offers an Arabian style dining experience with some of the most amazing city views.
For another memorable dining experience try the Bait Al Wakeel restaurant and enjoy your meal on an open-air platform jutting out over Dubai Creek. Extend your night at People by Crystal located at the top of Raffle’s pyramid for an unforgettable nightclub experience.
The beaches may be a highlight but if you can drag yourself from the scorching white sands there are plenty of other attractions slightly off the tourist track. Dubai is a city that will provide you with everything, from great hotels and activities to time share opportunities, so if you take the time to explore all that it has to offer, you will discover something new!
