Four decades ago, in 1975, the guns finally fell silent in Vietnam. With the reunification of the country, a solid infrastructure and willing and able workforce has emerged with tourism being a major benefactor. Golf legend Greg Norman, aka The Shark, is among the visionaries helping Vietnam achieve and exceed its goals in the travel arena, designing its newest world-class 18 hole challenge, The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip Golf Course in the coastal town of Ho Tram 80 miles southeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

International golf stars Robert Rock, Michael Campbell, and two of Vietnam’s finest golfers – Tang Thi Nhung and Ngo Bao Nghi – on the 18th hole of The Bluffs.
Norman, who spent 331 consecutive weeks atop the world golf rankings, also designed the Dunes Course at the Danang Golf Club. The Bluffs golf course which had its official opening weekend with Norman in attendance in October 2014, is one of the few championship-caliber links courses with significant elevation changes. The course winds its way through coastal sand dunes and is reminiscent of the great Scottish courses where the game began in the 15th century. Like the legendary St. Andrews course, The Bluffs is exposed to high winds and seasonal inclement weather, which creates the drama that is the stuff of dreams for low handicappers.
Golfers and gamblers stay at the Grand Ho Tram Strip which opened in July 2013 as Vietnam’s first international luxury casino resort. The continuing development already features a 541-room upscale hotel, 10 restaurants and bars, a spa, nightclub, convention center and casino with 90 gaming tables and over 600 slot machines. The miles of untouched beaches along this tropical-sunshine drenched area of the East Sea make it yet another of Vietnam’s travel industry treasures.
