We all have a favourite film, a preferred comic book or a song that makes us want to stand up and dance. So when a highly anticipated movie sequel comes along, heading to the big screen is an easy way to indulge our senses.
True to form
Sequels and follow-up movies aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and with one successful movie, it’s not unusual for another very similar film to follow. In most cases, the previous offering usually leaves us in a state of shock or with the cliff-hanger of all cliff-hangers! The response to these sequels – growls of excitement from avid fans eager to see what happens next – be it the second, third or even eighth materialization of its relevant sequence.
A movie remake offering plenty of nostalgic satire
A large majority of us will have already seen 2012’s 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. If you haven’t, it’s definitely worth a watch – especially as the follow-up 22 Jump Street is about to hit our big screens. The movie remake of a 1980’s TV series was certainly a hit the first time round, both critically and commercially. Despite the ‘unoriginal’ name, the sequel promises to be filled with as many laughs as the first one. This time however, the misfit cop duo moves their undercover assignment to college. You can catch the trailer on the cineworld website.
The Muppets: Most Wanted
The 2011 remake was a huge success; so it comes as little surprise that Disney are intent on doing it all over again this year. It’s a great one for both adults (who remember the hit TV show) and kids more than happy to sit through a screening embodying a series of outrageously cute cloth characters. The cast is also a massive talking point, starring big names such as Ricky Gervais, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Jason Segal and Ty Burrell to name but a few. Check out the trailer here.
Marvel Studios release their next chapter
After the success of Thor: The Dark World, Marvel are hitting the big screens with even more follow-ups, this time round – Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The film does however introduce a new twist in the shape of a Soviet Agent, who we better know as the Captain’s wartime buddy Bucky Barnes. The trailer offers an insight into the colourful characters and slick action true to the Marvel series.
