If you want sun, sea, history and culture, Malta is the place to visit. Malta holidays are known for their charming attractions and rich history; as such, they are perfect for globetrotters and culture vultures who are looking for a one of a kind vacation.
Lying in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, with a population of under half a million and covering an area of approximately 122 square miles, the Republic of Malta is one of the smallest and most densely populated countries in the world. Nevertheless, this popular island is home to beautiful harbour towns, glorious beaches, wonderful carnivals, magnificent festivals and a great club scene too.
Culture and History
With thousands of years of history, there are so many heritage sites to be explored, including catacombs, churches and forts. UNESCO world heritage sites include the island’s megalithic temples, the fortified city of Valletta and the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, located in Paola.
Museums and Galleries
With an abundance of interesting open-air sites and indoor museums covering the island’s vast history, Malta has something of interest for everyone.
The island has also been an inspiration for artists, photographers and sculptors through the ages, and their works can be found in many galleries, including the St James’ Cavalier Centre for Creativity, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Archaeology.
St. John’s Co-Cathedral
Situated in the heart of Valletta, this breathtaking cathedral is home to some of Caravaggio’s spectacular paintings. It is one of Malta’s most popular cultural attractions, as well as being the venue for many cultural events.
