I’ve lived on the west coast for the past 20 years and on many occasions friends from faraway places ask what keeps me here. I sometimes ask myself the same question. Could it be the simple, yet complex, mood of the ever-changing west coast waves, driftwood scattered beaches, migrating birds, whales, seals and porpoises – the exciting, yet scary, anticipation of running into a bear on a hike through the majestic forest landscape?
And I realize that it is all those things wrapped into one, plus the opportunity of photographing splendid roses and whimsical fuschias on a day in late autumn when the rest of the country is preparing for the first snowfall of the year
