With the latest innovations in technologies, scientists have now discovered a number of applications using the power harnessed from our brain. According to Live Science’s article, Brain Power: Mind Control of External Devices, John Donoghue, director of Brown’s Brain Science Program and co-founder of Cyberkinetics Neurotechnology Systems, Inc. says his group has ambitious goals to help those who are physically incapable to lead normal lives with the help of mind controlled devices. As mobile devices become hands-free with the discovery of wearable devices, it’s not inconceivable that mind controlled devices will soon find their way into our lives.
In this five part series we will present the innovations that could one day turn this dream into a reality. In part one we’ll explore a mind controlled helicopter and its potential use in the lives of physically challenged people.

This project is non-invasive and only requires the user to wear a specialized headgear to control the helicopter, according to a member of Professor Bin He’s team. Daniel Kaszor, author of several Nationalpost.com articles on the subject explained, “the controls for the mini-vehicle, which looks and flies much like any remote controlled helicopter, are otherwise fairly simple: if you want it to go up, think about it going up. If you want it to go down, think about it going down.”
The test results are positive and the report further states that just by using brain waves, they were able to control the craft and navigate through an obstacle course.
