Today let’s talk about what God is doing for us.
There’s a saying, we will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
I didn’t believe that was possible for a long time, until I saw it happening in my world. I would work on issues I carried from growing up in an alcoholic family, do the hard work of recovery, and sometime later, begin to see myself doing things that had previously been outside my range of behavior. For instance, I would work on my controlling behavior, and suddenly find myself able to let go of things in a whole new way, and not have to step in and try to control outcomes. Yes, I did my part, but I know there was more at work, and God was doing for me those things I really could not do for myself.
Have you ever experienced God in your life when you didn’t realize it?

Not sure why you dont give yourself more credit for this. Maybe that is part of your problems?
I like that you have taken responsibility for some aspects of your life but how effective is that and what sort of control of your life do you really have if you believe other entities are responsible for your future?
I say take the credit, own it and be proud of it.

Miles –
Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts. I guess the reason I give credit God for a part in my recovery is knowing deeply how insufficient were my own efforts of self will to change. I think trying to give myself too much credit is part of what led me to a spiritual solution, if that makes sense. My own efforts had fallen short, and when I turned to God, it led to the changes I mentioned that were outside my ability to effect on my own. Having tried the illusion of control over my life is what led me to try something different! 🙂
