Today let’s talk about delayed reactions.
Has someone ever said something, and you figure out the absolute wonderful response – 3 days later?
I have discovered I have a delayed reaction to situations. At the time, I feel frozen and can’t think of what to say, particularly if there is a negative edge to what is being said to me. A woman walked up at a party one time and made a sarcastic and hurtful accusation, and I felt myself just go numb. What she said was not true and was best addressed in the moment, but when I didn’t say anything, I intimated that she was right. Later I replayed the event in my mind and came up with the perfect reply. I’ve had to learn to be gentle with myself, know that I have that going on, and not beat myself up for having delayed reactions.
Have you ever felt frozen and unable to respond?
