Today let’s talk about developing faith.
Has it ever seemed tough to rely on God?
In my ‘30s, I was very active at church in a number of capacities, studied the Bible a lot, and would have said I had a lot of faith. Yet when I started dealing with the effects of growing up in an alcoholic family, I discovered my attempts at faith were more superficial than I had thought. I was saying the words that sounded like faith, yet my actions indicated almost the opposite – either I was in control of my world, or I didn’t think anyone would be there. Turning my life over to a Higher Power felt like losing control, which had been a bad experience growing up, and I resisted actually doing it. Admitting that, and separating God from an alcoholic father, gave me a deeper and greater ability to develop my faith.
Have you ever struggled with your faith?

Thanks Rosolin, for your thoughtful and considered comments. As we struggle with our faith, it gets strengthened, doesn’t it? Stepping out and actually relying on God builds the confidence to do so again, or when things don’t seem to be going all that well.
Blessings,
Dan
Yes, I’ve struggled with faith. Mental growth nurtured through experiences have given me a brighter outlook. I realize that God is the creator. There’s nothing that happens with his consent. God is perfect in all that he does. It is important for people to understand their imperfect plan may not be God’s perfect plan. God has the ability to see the beginning, middle, and end of every situation. Where as human beings barely see what in front of us. It’s important to put a 100% trust in God and no more than 99.9% in man.
I agree, Mary Nell – easier to tell someone else to have faith, than actually struggle with it ourselves! 🙂
So true! It is so very difficult to let go and give control to God. But when we do we gain so much.
