Today let’s talk about trust.
Have you ever felt like it took a long time to be able to trust people?
And then – if that trust was broken, it was very hard to trust that person ever again? I had learned to do just that, a legacy of growing up in an alcoholic family, that I carried into adulthood. If I thought someone had broken a trust- whether they actually did or not, they got Xed off my safe list – and they were off the list forever! Sad to say, I even had a pattern of pushing people away and then declaring them untrustworthy. Finally I came to see that it wasn’t because I picked friends that couldn’t be trusted. Instead, it was my issue around trusting that was getting in the way. Admitting that went a long way toward being able to change the behavior.
Have you ever found it difficult to trust people?

Trust is a very important issue when dealing with people. Without some level of trust there couldn’t be any human interactions. So we’ve all had issues with trust. But if you grew up in an alcoholic family you had more to deal with.
Absolutely, Guy! Not like everyone doesn’t have some trust issues to struggle with. But add an alcoholic family, and it seems like the trust issues get magnified! Thanks for commenting!
