When one thinks “motorcycles”, one most likely gets the image of a Suzuki motorcycle, a Harley Davidson or another widely known brand. But motorcycle design goes way beyond what is common to the public. Each year, manufacturers and designers come up with futuristic and, let’s just say it, some pretty weird motorcycles concepts. Some are easily imaginable on the road, whereas others are pushing the boundaries of design and can hardly be used at all – a little like haute couture for motorcycles. Here are five of the weirdest and coolest motorcycle concepts.
The Dodge Tomahawk
Somewhere between a car and motorcycle, the Dodge Tomahawk is one weird vehicle. With a top speed that can reach potentially 400 mph, the Tomahawk, with its striking and intimidating shiny design, in nowhere near street legal. Dodge qualified their Tomahawk as a rolling sculpture, more to be looked at than to be ridden. Some people do ride them though, as you can see here.
The Honda V4
Compared to the other motorcycles of this top 5, the Honda V4 looks almost normal. But its unique, fierce, never-seen-before design makes its stand out.
The Yamaha Tesseract
Needless to say, there is nothing that looks like the Yamaha Tesseract on the moto market. This four-wheeled cross between a motorbike and a quad is truly one of a kind.
The Lamborbiker
Flavio Adriani, the man behind the famous Lamborghini Countach, designed this two-wheeled masterpiece. The Lamborbiker is slick and fierce looking, and would definitely attract attention on the street!
The Embrio One-Wheel Concept
The Canadian based company Bombardier is behind this truly futuristic one-wheel bike concept. The Embrio is gyroscopically balanced, hydrogen-fuel powered and eco-friendly. It received gold at the 2003 Annual Design Awards. Care to see what it looks like?
