I came back home today…gonna rest up, do some stuff, head out again come Saturday. I was thinkin’ about why I do this…because I can, because I sometimes get it right, because after 40+ hours and all kinds of stuff, Dennis Aslett and his wife Jody show up (below) their work done for the time being, their smiles bright like stars in the coming night skies, thank you in their tired, relieved voices and a ‘thank you for waiting, for being here (like I had any choice) see you next time Michael’ …this ain’t about the money cause there ain’t none. It can’t be too expensive because if you need to put a price on it, you’ve missed the point…if y’all want to run a 100 miles I want to be there because “there” is where all my mistakes have brought me…to the simple understanding that true life mileage has its own code of honor and that courage, for me, is setting out each and every day to see what there is to see. — in Burgdorf, ID.
