“Most of us go through this wonderful, complex world barely even tuned in, like listening to the radio when it is not on the station. We (me included) miss most sights and sounds. We do not really pay attention. Our ancient ancestors were far better at this. In recent years we have become even less mindful of our sense of place” – Robert Bateman
Beyond the Lens, into the Realm of Imagination and Creativity
Sixteen million tourists visit Venice every year and probably every one of them is carrying a camera. Coming up with a fresh photographic approach is thus a considerable challenge. I had two influences percolating in the back of my mind when I visited Venice for the second time in 2010.
Travels in the Life of a Vagabond Artist
This morning the Chinese New Year Horse galloped down the street in front of my new digs, the French Colonial Tay Ho Hotel in Can Tho, Vietnam. I’ve been on the road for three and one half months and have reached a crossroads; images around me are profound. They reflect the past present and future.
Celebrating the First Peoples of Canada

Sometimes I am deeply inspired by the colors, light or glamor of an exotic locale, or a memorable experience on a journey. In “Santa Fe Holiday,” I used color, texture and form to create a fanciful, inviting scene that attempts to exude the feelings I experienced in person.
Finding Freedom, not Fear, in Architecture
It was during her daily journey to The Glasgow School of Art, that she began to notice the beauty of Glasgow’s Victorian architecture. The wrought iron detailing, the stained glass, the red and blond sandstone structures, all exuded a wealth of decoration and form on an imposing scale.
China
There is an open door in the image, seemingly, open to our imagination, seeking what we may not have experienced but can imagine.
Beach Bottle
