Built in 1894 to replace a home that suddenly burnt to the ground one night, Elkington House at Oak Park is one of Cowichan Valley’s best kept secrets. It’s also one of our most beloved treasures.
MALTESTE – In Search of the Sublime
“My work gives me a privileged view of the beauty that surrounds us. My photographs hopefully give an eloquent example of this wealth that we could collectively lose by negligence or lack of concrete action faced with uncontrolled exploitation. We must take seriously what’s at stake for the planet.”

True Grit.
Using a technique I developed through Photoshop I like to take photos of run down, rusty, dirty objects, and create an even more gritty look.
Pierre Carreau’s AquaViva Series
This sculptural effect of dynamism in static suspension is at once conscious and haphazard, a function of the rapid genesis of these images and the evident fact that the artist cannot possibly see the final work at the very moment of its birth.
