And a fascinating one it has been for the past 67 years. I entered the field in 1948, the same year that Milton Berle, comedian, and Ed Sullivan, Broadway columnist, did.

I drive a lot – and we get a lot of rain where I live. I also used to work in a tire store when I was in college. I am familiar enough with tires to know that when I started a family, I wanted my wife to have a really safe ride, and that meant her car would have the best tires I could find.
The bully of grade four had requested my friendship, something he hadn’t made any effort to do in public school. I couldn’t decipher from our initial encounter if he really did know who I was.
