I began to use a looser painting style as a means to relax and unwind – without worry over following any guidelines other than form. I was pleased at the outcome and found my animal portraits made me and other people smile just looking at them. They seem to capture the silly nature of out pets, who seem to go to extraordinary lengths to make us happy.
This painting is a bit somber, but then so was my old cat who was inspiration for this painting.
Chi is a young cat owned by my son, and hopefully I captured the intensity she has, like a spring about to pop at all times!

Amanda Lynn Stacey Artist Bio
Living in Victoria, BC is a nature artist’s dream. Whether diving the mysterious coves, or hiking the rocky coast, beautiful and awe inspiring beauty surrounds us!
Much of my painting inspiration comes from our spectacular west coast scenery although I have been greatly influenced by the many different people and countries I have visited. I am awed by the beauty and diversity the entire world has to offer.
As opposed to concentrating on one specialized style, I am currently lost on a tangent of discovery, taking me through various mediums and techniques. Experiencing the newness of the unknown fills me with the joy and wonder that to me is creation. I have enjoyed the art of sculpting and painting for over 30 years.
My artistic expression is seldom conveyed with one strong, consistent voice, but rather a quiet reflection of the multifaceted, chaotic, stunning beauty that is life around us.
