Life is an art form. And art is life. It may sound like a lame platitude, but it is true, no?
We are the authors of our own lives. Perhaps it can be said that we paint on a canvas of circumstances and conditions that shapes our characters, our destinies.
Art is life. The need to create is innate, instinctual. Whether we write, paint, cook, parent, build, sing, teach, heal, plant a tree or leave etchings on cave walls, we humans have a drive to leave our mark, to proclaim, “Hey, I was here. I lived.” It’s a spiritual thing really.

From florals and landscapes, to cityscapes and abstract work, through my photography and some poetry, I do my best to say, “Hey I was here.” …….the process continues.

A baby boomer from Toronto, Canada, I grew up in a land before time when kids ran down to the creek to chase frogs, played in the streets until dusk and somehow got by with black and white tv.
I’ve always been into the arts as a club performer, a d-jay and music & video artist. I even had a gig as a singing messenger showing up to offices dressed as a clown or super hero giving someone flowers or balloons, telling a couple of jokes and singing a “Happy Birthday.” Maybe my big claim to fame is being Frankenfurter of the Rocky Horror Show for a big lottery ad campaign back in the 80’s.
After a brief bit of upgrading, I worked my way through university and as fate would have it, I got a straight gig teaching school. I grooved on it, made learning a game, coached sports, produced musicals, even wrote an international book series on writing skills for kids.
Still, there was an unfulfilled spark smoldering in my soul. I left teaching, went back to my roots and became a born-again artist totally immersing myself in it, just as had in music and in teaching.
I feed off so many of the countless artists and musicians, past and present, and all the amazing anonymous spirits who transcend the trivialities of life and have lived to make the world a better place. Sometimes I add words to images to enhance a message.
I do some commercial photo art for the Advocate Art Agency based in Sussex, England. I shoot a lot of flowers, but love to explore landscapes, rural and urban. I’m always looking to push an image to a magical place, where reality meets imagination, where hearts soften and minds wonder, a place to escape for a moment.
