I found this man sitting on the wall outside the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, London on a cold day in January. The scene immediately stood out to me, and I thought it would make a strong and moving image – the homeless man out in the cold, obviously struggling to find his next meal, but still managing to share some of his sandwiches with the pigeons that had gathered around him. Although he was homeless he had great dignity, which drew me to him as a subject.
