Today let’s talk about calling someone.
Have you ever felt like you had things on your mind, and didn’t know what to do about it?
When I had that happen, calling someone to talk wasn’t something I thought of. Then when I was hit hard by my Dad’s death, a friend suggested I call someone every day for just 5 minutes to tell them how I was doing. It seemed like a simple suggestion, but I never would have thought of it, and it gave me a huge amount of relief as I went through the grief process. I would call a friend and they would just listen as I told them I felt sad, or angry, or even numb. I didn’t need them to try to fix me – just to listen. Not isolating when I was going through a rough time was a real blessing, and it gave me enormous freedom.
Have you ever struggled with reaching out to others?
