Today let’s talk about loving yourself.
Have you ever felt like you could be loving toward others,
but just couldn’t give that same level of caring to yourself?
There’s a Bible verse that says, you have to love your neighbor as you love yourself. I always focused on the loving your neighbor part, sometimes neglecting myself in the process. As one friend pointed out, “Dan, it seems like you measure your worth by how much you are needed by other people.” It was true – I was trying to earn self worth, instead of loving myself. But the whole verse says love your neighbor as yourself – which means I have to begin by loving myself first. That involved changing some of the attitudes I learned growing up in an alcoholic household. But learning to love myself led to a lot of freedom!
Have you ever had trouble being loving toward yourself?
