Today, let’s talk about not everything is my fault.
Have you ever felt like you’re responsible for everything that happens? Whatever is going on – somehow, it is your fault?
You are to blame. I learned that growing up in an alcoholic household, and carried it into my adult life. In some way, I had caused whatever was happening by being a “bad son,” or not being good enough in school. When my Dad was angry and drunk, I never realized it might be because of his job or his life – it somehow became about me. Sometimes he even said I was the problem. At times I felt like it was my fault for having just been born. I had to learn that this just was not true. Everything wasn’t my fault – which also meant I had to stop apologizing for all the events in my adult world.
Have you ever felt like that?
