We’ve posted thing by Rick Mercer before. Things that make us laugh. This, on the other hand, is no laughing matter.
Rick starts by saying that “every year in this country, 300 kids take their own lives” and he ends with “300 kids is 300 too many“.
What he says in between is what we need to act on. “We have to make it better … now!”
Watch this video, and then watch it again. The message is crucial! What actions can we take?
What actions WILL we take?
How do we make it better … now?
Big thanks to Heather Hess for pointing this out to me.
Dag nabbit good stuff you wihpperansppers!
Very sad. And Rick is right, we all have to step up. It may not be as dramatic as rescuing people from a downed aircraft, but as important.
This is so right – bullying has become a major problem. In a society where we proclaim to accept all races and accept everyone as they are there is still gay bashing and major peer pressure for kids to all be the same. After all these years and revolutions it seems this generation of kids are lost. Five teens have committed suicide in the Comox Valley since summer – what is going on!
Rick Mercer makes so much sense! Yes the bullies should be confronted – that is the only way it can stop. Not only are children being bullied but so are parents and teachers – everyone is just standing back and talking about bullying as if nothing can be done about it.
I agree with Rick – let’s do something about it – NOW! Our children deserve the respect and dignity to attend school and plan their future without being harassed by their peers. Let’s stop this epidemic now! We all deserve the freedom to be ourselves and not live in fear!!!!!
Amen Heather! Amen!
