In my most recent post, anticipation, I asked people to share with me what they were celebrating. At midnight last night, I gathered together the names of everyone who had so wonderfully shared. I had my husband shake the entries and I reached my hand in and pulled Sara’s name. In Sara’s own words, here is what she was celebrating:
“Today I am celebrating salvation. I am celebrating the wonder and amazement fear can induce when we step outside of its cloak and watch how it falls into the leaves and dust. I am celebrating trying new things.
I am celebrating having absolutely no clue who I am, where I am going, how I’m going to get there, and why I want these things. I am celebrating being stripped, being bare, being a freshly-stretch[ed] blank canvas waiting in the sunlight of the studio windows.
I am celebrating me. And whoever she is, through all her foibles and cacophonous blunders, I LOVE HER.
Thanks for sharing your process with us. You are a lovely reminder and gentle inspiration.“
After reading Sara’s comment and then going and reading her words at her very new lovely blog, Poached Kumquats for Dinner, I feel so happy to be sending her the book Lanterns: A Gathering of Stories and hope that the words within will light the journey of her path.
