Today let’s talk about gratitude.
When I first started dealing with the effects of growing up in an alcoholic family,
it was hard to feel grateful about anything.
I was so traumatized by the events of my teenage years, I was struggling just to hold things together. But I have begun to realize how lucky I have been to have found resources to help me overcome those problems. I am especially grateful to have many friends who support my efforts, sometimes taking the tough route of confronting me on my behavior when I most needed to hear it but didn’t necessarily want to! Those honest friends gave me the push to seek help and explore what was making my life unhappy. To feel a sense of peace and serenity I thought would permanently elude me, makes me deeply grateful for the events and the progress of my life.
Have you ever struggled with trying to feel grateful?
