I appreciate many forms of photography but have a passion for wildlife, birds in flight and birds of prey in particular. There is something about the predatory process of search, locate, attack and consume that fascinates me today as it did 40 years ago as a kid.
Napa of the North: Canada’s Okanagan Valley
Barrel tasting great wine, hanging out with friends in a lavender field, and picnicking al fresco in a vineyard surrounded by beautiful mountains. What a perfect day in Napa. Except for one thing. I’m not in Napa, California. I’m in Canada’s Okanagan Valley.
The Fun and Freedom of Abstract Photography
I moved in close to graffiti on a stone wall. The curving lines and the black and white contrast reminded me of Zen calligraphy. There’s something about curving lines that is appealing to me. They remind me of the flow of life.
Embracing True Beauty Through Her Lens
Atalia Katz states, “I view photography as another dimension, alongside writing, that provides me with the primary tools for expressing my inner self, the excitement of discovery and the exhilaration of creation every day.”
Photography Adventure Workshops in Ajijic, Mexico
I had plenty of inspirations the first few years, but then, how many times can you photograph Huichol Indians and colorful doors? After awhile it becomes necessary to narrow your field of photography and come up with photos that are not ordinary nor clichéd images.
Door County – The Midwest’s Answer to Cape Cod
Things seemed beautifully familiar on the drive up the Door County peninsula from Green Bay. Yet this was my first time in the area, in fact the first time in Wisconsin. It was not until I drove past the Cape Cod Hotel did my inner mystery solve itself.
Himalayan Journey
The extraordinary and brilliant light of these high altitude regions, frames these monasteries against the bluest of skies, in an arresting contrast of colour and image.
The Second Life Of A Rusty Tugboat
There’s just something entrancing about rusty things. Just beneath the surface usually lies an interesting story. Some are obvious or easy to discover, while others remain a mystery forever leaving the observers to their own imagination.
A Polar Bear’s First Journey
When the cubs are rested up, the babies will wake up and play until mom is ready to get up and continue on another leg of their journey. Walk, nurse, rest, play, walk and repeat. This routine continues on for the next forty or so miles until mom can get to the Bay to finally enjoy the seal buffet.
Beyond the Lens, into the Realm of Imagination and Creativity
Sixteen million tourists visit Venice every year and probably every one of them is carrying a camera. Coming up with a fresh photographic approach is thus a considerable challenge. I had two influences percolating in the back of my mind when I visited Venice for the second time in 2010.
