Today let’s talk about resentments.
Has it ever seemed like you’re angry at someone, and can hardly think about anything else?
I had a lot of resentments about how I thought others had mistreated me. Being super sensitive to criticism, I sometimes felt someone had offended me when their words actually had nothing to do with me. It was finally pointed out to me that those resentments weren’t doing anything to “get back at” the other person, they were only affecting and hurting me. I realized that the person I had a resentment toward was going about their life as usual, and I was walking around carrying a grudge and feeling unhappy. It takes a lot of work to overcome resentments, but as I have done so, I find less of my energy tied up in other people, obsessing about ways I may have been hurt.
Have you ever struggled with resentments?
