Minute to Freedom #32: Dependent Personality

Today let’s talk about being a dependent personality.

Have you ever felt like your world rotated around someone else,
and that person had the ability to determine your happiness?

For me it almost felt like a physical craving that I had to be around the woman I was involved with, and sometimes I would do crazy things. One time I called a woman at her Mom’s house in California at Christmas, angry and sick to my stomach because I thought she was seeing some old boyfriend while she was out there. I ached with a gnawing sick feeling from craving her so much. It hurts to admit that I did that! I had learned that dependency growing up in an alcoholic family, and it was terribly damaging to my life. Yet admitting that became the step that allowed me the freedom to do something about it.

Have you ever felt like you were unhealthily bonded to someone?
