Minute to Freedom #12: Standing Up For Myself

Today let’s talk about standing up for yourself.

Have you ever had trouble standing up for what you needed?

Did you cave in to what others wanted, and give yourself up in the process? My Sunday School group wanted me to be the leader in setting up a big singles event. I knew it was a bad idea, and poorly conceived, but I let them pressure me into taking the position. The whole event turned out to be a disaster, and I was miserable. I didn’t stand up for myself when I needed to, and got into something that wasn’t right for me. I even felt guilty about trying to say no. I didn’t feel good about myself from growing up in an alcoholic family. When I changed that and felt better about myself on the inside, it became easier to take care of myself in the world around me.

Have you ever had trouble standing up for yourself?
