LOVED this article – made me laugh out loud!! I too am a crazy cat lady and I guess I have to say I’m proud to be one (tho it’s easier to admit that in the company of other cat lovers)! I adore my kitties and, even tho he won’t admit it, my Hubby loves them too – they provide endless entertainment and we couldn’t imagine life without them.

Crazy cat ladies unite! It means you have personality and creativity and usually intelligence (it takes those characteristics to appreciate the wonderful qualities of cats).

I loved reading this…I hope we can get rid of the crazy cat lady stigma someday. My husband and I have two right now and keep talking about getting more, but the stigma stops us to some extent. They are our “girls” and they keep us laughing. The house seems empty without kitties livening things up. I know I talk about them too much, but…I just can’t help it.

I, too, am a cat lover. Love ‘em, love ‘em, love ‘em! They are the children I never had. I have jokingly referred to myself as a crazy cat lady. There’s nothing wrong with crazy cat ladies! They’re great!

And as for aging and attraction, let your personality shine through! Smile! Put some pep in your step! Act like you’re going places and no one’s going to stop you!

I know! I’ve found that, too. I feel liberated from the male gaze. It’s amazing how much energy and mental power it took to bear that up.

I turn 50 this year. I’ve not only noticed the invisibility thing you mention, but I’ve come to believe that it’s actually a superpower. Being invisible to unknown men is so liberating. I never realized how much it affected my actions until I didn’t have to deal with it anymore. Now I revel in not worrying about how what I wear or do or say will be perceived by strangers on the street.

I’m doing my best to embrace my Crazy Cat Lady status. I’ve noticed that my husband and I seem to be adding one per decade to our acceptable number of cats (now up to 5). I used to avoid blogging about the cats, but I’ve long since given up and, in fact, they’re almost the only thing I’ve blogged about in the past month.
