I love this! What a beautiful (and fun!) ode to your mother

My mom has never been the “typical” mom and the advice she has given me over the years has definitely raised some eyebrows and caused one or a dozen people to snarl but that is their loss. I can’t say enough how much of an example my mom is to me, and how it is all the things that are so different about her that make her someone I admire.

On a cheesy non-mom-related note: I love your writing, your words, your style. I like that you are literally carving out a place in the world for yourself, rather than waiting and hoping for one to open up for you. On a super cheesy note, you certainly inspire me to write more, with more honesty and rawness.

Thanks for sharing your world and good luck in all of your adventures!

My mom’s best advice: Don’t worry about being normal, people who will sing out loud in public, dance with their husbands to Scissor Sisters even though they’re kind of old and eat chocolate cake for breakfast ave better lives.

Also, there are very few problems in life that a Jane Austen book and a good cup of Assam can’t significantly diminish.

I think I’m gonna go book a ticket home for this weekend, actually.

Thank you Dear. The photo is very flattering. You did forget some very important words of advice: “Boys/men come out of the woodwork when you least expect them.” Sister and I are not sure what the “woodwork” is, but it seems to work. Regarding the bagels: the gifts are not limited to bagels and may include candy, wine, donuts (with or without sprinkles), potato chips, cookies, hot melting pizza and always Diet Coke. Most of all, thank you for the lovely tribute. I’m happy you were listening and without you and Sister I would not be able to claim a Happy Mother’s Day. Love you Dear.
