Most of the major cities I&#039;ve been to have done parks and greenspace very well.  What is not always done so well is the public transportation it takes to get there.  And I think what you&#039;re suggesting is true; that we need nature. It&#039;s not an option.  It is a part of a healthy life.

		<description>The experiences we have as children have such a profound effect, which is why I worry sometimes about urban children -- particularly inner city children -- and their lack of access to green space and what that does to their developing psyches. I believe we have a deep need, as human animals, for contact with nature. I love living next to a regional park with forest trails, and within walking distance of, or a short bus trip to, beaches. Community gardens can also provide a wonderful opportunity for city dwellers to have contact with the earth and growing things.</description>
