I asked an acquaintance recently what he thought separated humans from other animals. He said “building and communicating.” “No, no” I said, “other species build, make tools and communicate very well.” A few days later this person said the answer is the wheel and making fire. Hmmmmmm, the dung beetle comes close to the wheel, but I know of no other species that actually makes fire. That’s all I can come up with for the difference. The similarities are, of course, endless. What I admire most is the social structure from elephants to insects. Your posting, Kerry is a celebration of all of our similarities, especially our social structures, humans as well as the “others.” Yes, I am heartened to see this posting. Thank you, thank you, thank you………..
