I think you would enjoy David Suzuki’s book “Tree”. It’s a wonderful exploration of the life cycle of a single Douglas Fir over 500 years, and all the parts of it’s surrounding ecosystem that play a part in it’s life.

Thanks Gil for researching the whole poem; it is indeed lovelier than I even remembered..Trees are in some ways our doctors…so much comes from them into medicines of all sorts; warmth, plus crutches, pages, you name it , a tree is there woodn’t you know..Oops, I know, I know, that is a play on words….forgive me everyone. Could not resist.

I have remembered the first two lines dedicated to a tree.
I hope nothing inhibits printing it through LAAH and with all due respects to the author of this lovely poem which became a great song:……

Beautifully expressed and made me want to be out there under the canopies of them all..
Thank you for a most knowledgeable and enticing article.
There is a song titled TREES..wish I could remember who wrote and sang it.
It was a favorite of mine.
