I absolutely love this piece. Crows are highly intelligent creatures and this ten-minute video sheds some light on their remarkable learning abilities. What it also sheds light on is a young man who is doing something very worthwhile. He’s looking at mutually beneficial ways that we can interact with other species. What an absolutely brilliant application of operant conditioning and B.F. Skinner’s work! The same technology that has been used to create delightful marine mammal shows for decades and is now being so successfully used in training dogs in hundreds of behaviours can, and has been, applied to many species!
I’m delighted to see such creative thinking on a practical scale to use Skinner’s work to improve not just the planet, but our relationships with all kinds of species. Imagine a day when man cooperates with nature rather than competes with it!
